Dr Dear Parents and Students,

This year the Chess Club will begin with two beginners only sessions. These first two sessions are for students who have not learned how the pieces move or are still very new to the game. (Those who played in our club last year should wait until October 6 for our first regular club meeting.)
Monday September 22Beginners Only
Monday September 29Beginners Only
Monday October 6First Regular Club meeting
The club is open to any student in Grades 2 through 8 who would like to learn to play chess or improve his or her game. Parents are always welcome to attend since it is my hope that chess can be something that parents and children can enjoy together.
The Chess Club meets in the school cafeteria from 3:15 PM until 4:30 PM. Parents need to pick up their children at the school office doors.
The regular club meetings will begin with about 20 minutes of instructional time followed by the students playing chess. Students are encouraged to bring a snack to eat during the instructional period. I ask that no one eat or drink while playing a game or using the chess equipment.
Please remind your children that all school rules apply even during Chess Club.
When your child attends his or=2 0her first club meeting, I will send home a sign up sheet with additional club information.
